Rules

1. General  

This songwriting contest is open to anyone, whether you are an amateur or professional songwriter and/or musician, from any part of the world, except for the close relatives and partners of the organisers of the 100% Music Songwriting Contest. All artists must have their own copyrights for any songs or music they submit. Songs must be 100% original. Entrants will retain full rights to all work submitted for the contest.

This contest is open from February 1, 2008 to July 31, 2008 and is organised by the 100% Music Songwriting Contest company, registered to the company register under the SIREN number 500 050 075, and whose adress is 100% Music Songwriting Contest CS 30055 49241 AVRILLE CEDEX FRANCE.

2. Entry fees

The entry fees are US $30/ GBP 15/20 € for the first entry and US $22/GBP 11/15 € per additional entry. Contestants may enter as many songs in as many categories as they want. The same song can be entered in several categories but each entry requires an entry fee. The entry fees are non-refundable.

3. Mail entries

If contestants enter the contest by mail, they must include in their submitted material:

- Audio CD(s), data cds, data dvds and/or audio tape(s) containing the songs.
- A completed entry form(s), copy, or photocopy.
- A lyric sheet is optional for all categories EXCEPT for the 'best lyrics' category, where it is required, with English or French translation if applicable'.
-Contestants may also, if they wish, include photos and bigographic information related to their musicianship. This is optional and is not a judgement criteria.
- The entry fee may be paid by one of the following methods:

Including a cheque or money order for the amount of entry fees submitted, payable to 100% Music Songwriting Contest. All cheques must be payable to: 100% Music Songwriting Contest. Contestants may pay for all entries with one cheque, or with multiple cheques, if they prefer.

A charge to a credit card, which requires completion of the charge authorization fields in the submission form which provide information about the card and cardholder. If the contestant chooses this payment option, he authorizes the 100% Music Songwriting Contest to charge his card of the amount he/she has specified on the submission form and that is related to the number of entries he/she submits to the contest.

If the contestant chooses the online payment option, he/she must give his email adress in the submission form. The 100% Music Songwriting Contest will send him/her a payment request to this email once their entries are received.

4. Online entries

Submit your songs online through Sonicbids! If you are not yet a Sonicbids member and want to submit online, visit http://www.sonicbids.com/100musicsongwritingcontest and sign-up for the Sonicbids Combo Package (includes your submission AND a discounted Sonicbids membership). If you are already a Sonicbids member, log in to your Sonicbids account and visit the Promoter Drop Box to submit.

5. Categories, winners determination and judgement criterias

The contest has 15 categories. 11 are judged on composition and melody : Acoustic/Country/Bluegrass, Adult Contemporary/Pop, Blues/Jazz, Celtic/Classical/New Age/Ambient, Electronic/Dance/Dj, Folk/Singer songwriter, Funk/Latin/Reggae/World, Hip Hop/Rap/Urban/R&B, Instrumental, Metal/Punk, Rock.

The 4 other categories are also judged on music composition and melody and have moreover other judgement criterias.

That way, entries of the 'best music performance' category are judged on music performance, composition and melody, entries of the 'best male singer' and 'best female singer' category are judged on vocal performance, composition and melody and entries of the 'best lyrics' category are judged on lyrics composition, composition and melody. For this category, lyric sheet(s) is/are required. If the song is in a language other than english or french, an english or french translation must be provided.

For all categories, quality of recordings is not a submission requirement and won't be judged. Songs can be in any language.

This is how the classification will be done.

For each category, entries will be judged and ranked as follows:

1-3: Winners
4-10: Finalists
11-20: Semi-finalist
21-50: Honor Award

And from among the up to 45 winners of the 15 categories, they will judged and ranked as follows:

1-3: Overall Winners
4-10: Overall Finalists

Honor awards, semi-finalists, finalists and overall finalists in each category will be chosen by 100% Music Songwriting Contest. Winners in each category and overall winners will be chosen by an independent panel of judges of music industry professionals including record labels, artists, publishers and producers.

The top 50 entries in each category, the overall winners and finalists will receive by email a proof of their success, which will be a 100% Music songwriting contest logo showing their status in the contest, which they’ll be able to use it for their press kit and music promotion.

Judging is based on songwriting . “Professional” recordings are not a submission requirement. All songs will get the same consideration. Songs may be in any language.

The entries of the “Best music performance category” will be judged on the quality of music performance, and entries of the “Best male singer” and “Best female singer” categories will be judged on vocal performance. The entries of the "Best lyrics" will be judged on lyric composition. It can be either a song containing the lyrics that enter the category or just lyrics (without music). In all cases, if the texts submitted in this category are neither english or french, an english or french traslation must be provided.

6- Prizes

All contestants will receive: fifteen music loops from 100% Music Studio, created especially for the contest (value: $45), Introduction to computer-based ear training e-book from Earmaster created especially for this contest, 35% to 40% discount on products from Les Productions Zvon (Prepared Rhodes, Sidekick Electronic Percussions, Constellation soundfonts, Julie Resynth and Julie M42), 10% discount on the product of your choice from Blue Cat Audio's product range.

Overall winner will receive: $3000 cash, mastering and mixing of 20 songs by 100% Music Studio (value: $2360), arrangement or remixing of 3 songs by 100% Music Studio (value: $540), a licence for the Blue Cat's Master Pack plugin bundle (value: $397,67), logo design created by Ourportfolio (value: $120), a product of his/her choice from Equinox sound's product range. (value: $22 to $89), a product of his/her choice from Kong Audio's individual product range. (value: $60 to $88), a copy of Guitar Pro 5 software (value: $87), merchandising from 100% Music Songwriting Contest (value: $50), 3 Julie's collection bundle from Zvon productions (value: $34.99), unlimited and continuous airplay of 15 songs on 100% Music Radio (value: $33)

Third winner in each category will receive: mastering and mixing of 2 songs by 100% Music Studio (value: $364), a copy of EarMaster Pro 5.0 software (value: $116), merchandising from 100% Music Songwriting Contest (value: $50), unlimited and continuous airplay of 2 songs on 100% Music Radio (value: $7), IYTTIW modified trumpet set from Zvon productions (value: $5,99)

The 100% Music Songwriting Contest will incur the cost of shipping prizes where required, but will not be responsible for delay, damage or non-delivery of prizes delivered via postal services. CDs and lyrics will not be returned. The prizes will be sent with no unnecessary delay after the results are determined and the winners notified. The 100% Music Songwriting Contest cannot be held responsible for any delivery delays or difficulties caused by circumstances that are out of control of the 100% Music Songwriting Contest. Notably, the 100% Music Songwriting Contest cannot be held responsible for any losses or damages due to the postal services or or other carriers, including non-delivery of prizes. The 100% Music Songwriting Contest is not responsible for any circumstance or damages arising from the use of prizes that are given to the winners. In the event that a winner chooses not to accept a prize, the winner forfeits all claim to that prize, forever. Prizes will be awarded jointly to all performers and writers of the song. Distribution of awarded prizes is the responsibility of winners. The winners release sponsors from all liability regarding prizes won. Taxes on prizes are the responsibility of the winners.

7. Results and winners notification

Honor awards, semi-finalists and finalists of each category  will be announced in August, 2008 and winners, overall finalists and overall winners in October, 2008.

Winners will be notified by email to the email address provided, and must sign and return an affidavit confirming that winner’s song is original and he/she holds rights to the song, within fifteen (15) days after the date on this notification. The affidavit will state that the winner(s) hold all copyrights for their entered music and that their winning song is their original work. Failure to sign and return this affidavit within fifteen (15) days, or the provision of false/inaccurate information therein, will result in immediate disqualification and an alternate winner will be selected. Affidavits of winners under eighteen (18) years must be countersigned by the winner’s parent or legal guardian. Affidavits are verified by 100% Music Songwriting Contest. Winners authorize 100% Music Songwriting Contest to use their names, likeness and voices for future contest publicity and advertising purposes without additional compensation. Winners names, likeness and voices won’t be used outside of the contest. The list of the winners will be displayed on this website, and each entrant will later receive a winners list by e-mail.

8. Organisers' decisions

The 100% Music Songwriting Contest reserves the right to modify, at any time, the rules and agreement, and to take all decisions that it would think useful for the application and interpretation of the rules and agreement. The 100% Music Songwriting Contest will be able to contact the participant by whatever means it chooses. The 100% Music Songwriting Contest also reserves the right to modify, extend, cut short, suspend or cancel the contest, without notice, for any circumstances beyond its control. In particular, the 100% Music Songwriting Contest reserves the right if it occurs to invalidate and/or cancel all or a part of the contest if there are frauds or technical failures, notably those involving data handling or selection of winners. In that case, the 100% Music Songwriting Contest gives itself the right to refer anyone commiting a fraud to law enforcement. Any participant who commits a fraud will automatically be disqualified. The 100% Music Songwriting Contest may not be held responsible for delays or cancellation caused by any of the reasons above and participants are not entitled to a refund in these cases.

9. Rules and agreement deposit

These rules and agreement have been deposited to 'SCP Montel-Simeone-Segura-Simeone, huissiers de justice associés, 40 rue Sainte, 13 001 Marseille, France'. 10. Responsibility

Entrants to this content acknowledge the features and the limits of the Internet, notably in regards to technical performance, the time responses to access a website, the risks of interruption, the risks linked to the connection, the risks of information theft, and risks posed by malicious software that spread on the Internet. The 100% Music Songwriting Contest cannot be held responsible for such risks. The 100% Music Songwriting Contest cannot guarantee that the website and/or the contest will work without interruptions, that they do not contain any informational errors, or that these defaults are correct. The 100% Music Songwriting Contest cannot be held responsible for any technical malfunctions in the contest, for any difficulty in connecting to the website of the contest or cannot enter it, for non-delivery of entry data to the 100% Music Songwriting Contest for any reasons outside of the contest organisers (for example, an Internet connection problem due to any reasons by the user), for any problems due to corrupted files or non-compliant file formats, or in case of problems with e-mail transmissions. The participants are not eligible for any refund for these kind of situations. The 100% Music Songwriting Contest cannot be held responsible for any damage, material or immaterial, caused to the participants, their computer equipment and the data that are stored inside, or for any consequences, direct or indirect that can come from it, notably in their personal, professionnal or commercial activity.

11. Personal data

As said previously, to enter the contest, participants must give certain personal information (such as first name, last name...). This information will be saved in a data file as it is necessary to take count of their participation, to determine the winners, and to expedite awarding of prizes. These data will become property of the 100% Music Songwriting Contest. In accordance to the french « loi n° 78-17 du 6 janvier 1978 » law, in relation to data, files, and liberty, participants can freely have access, modify or erase their personal information. To do that, participants must send a letter to: 100% Music Songwriting Contest CS 30055 49241 AVRILLE CEDEX FRANCE. By entering this contest, participants will be able to subscribe to a newsletter. If they subscribe to this newsletter, sent electronically, at every mail sent to the participant they will have the possibilty to cancel their subscription freely.

12. Applicable law, differences

The rules and agreement governing this contest are made under French law. This translation into English of the 100% Music Songwriting Contest Rules and Regulations is provided for your convenience only. In case of any dispute, this contest will be regulated only by the Rules and Regulations as given in the original French version, and according to the laws of France. To be considered, notice of any dispute or claim must be sent to: 100% Music Songwriting Contest CS 30055 49241 AVRILLE CEDEX FRANCE no later than ninety (90) days after the end of the contest. If a disagreement concerning the application and the interpretation of this rules and agreement cannot be resolved, all litigations must be sent to the Court of Justice of ANGERS (49, FRANCE) to which all competences are attributed.
