Philippe Besson

Philippe Besson, owner and editor of the music publishing and production company Parsiparla, was trained in classical piano from 1977 to 1982 and studied the hurdy gurdy instrument from 1983 to 1990. From 1981 to 1992, he was the main dancer and hurdy gurdy player in an art and tradition band from Berry, France. Philippe Besson and his band have appeared in several concerts in England, Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark, Belgium, and Poland.

In 1986 he performed a duet and won the JMF contest for the Auvergne region of France and in 1992 he made his first recording 'Air Libre' with Frédéric PARIS and Patrick PEROT. From 1991 to 1995, he was musical director in the band 'CREDANSE' and in 1994 he created COMPAGNIE BESSON with the aim of making new music for his region. In 1997, they won first place in the 'Scènes Francophones de Sancoins', the SACEM award, and released their first recording "ISIS". Then in 2000 they won the EUROPHONIES 2000/ 2001 award and released their second recording "Fibule" with Didier LOCKWOOD as artistic director and Francis LOCKWOOD as pianist. In September 2002 they released their third recording "EPICES" and in the summer of 2003 they worked on a creation blending their music with traditional and modern dance. They have also taken part in several audiovisual projects for regional TV and several festivals such as PARIS PLANETES and Les TRAVERSEES DE TATIHOU

In 2003, Philippe Besson created PARSIPARLA, a music publishing and audiovisual production company, of which he is the owner and editor.

Parsiparla is interested in music that blends usual musical instruments that are integrated in an unusual manner in a given audiovisual context. Parsiparla specializes in ethnic music and instruments and in audiovisual techniques. This company works in its own recording studio, which allows flexibility and fast reactivity times. Parsiparla’s music catalog is wide-ranging and is largely used in foreign countries as Australia,  Japan, Canada, USA, United Kingdom and the Benelux countries, among others. Parsiparla is: 2000 pieces of illustration music, 100 composers, and 200 musicians.
