There are several frequently asked questions that are related to the 100% Music Songwriting Contest. If you cannot find the answer(s) to your questions, please feel free to contact us.
How does the contest work?
100% Music Songwriting Contest is an annual songwriting contest that awards the best international songwriters, whether they be amateurs or professionals. Songs are judged primarily on music composition and melody, and production quality is not considered. Contestants can participate in several categories that are related to different music genres. At the end of the participation period, a preselection will be made by the 100% Music Songwriting Contest and the 10 best entries of each category are sent to an external jury that is composed of industry professionals: producers, presidents of record labels, music reviewers, professional artists, etc. Three winners are chosen per category and then 3 overall winners from each first place winner of each category. At the end of the contest, several hundred thousand dollars worth of music prizes are to be awarded to the winners.
How can I get entry forms?
You can request it using this form. They will be sent by mail when the contest begins.
What are the entry conditions?
The 100% Music Songwriting Contest is open to anyone from any country. To participate you must be the composer/author or co-composer/co-author of the song or represent the artist/band (manager, producer, etc.), All songs must be original (no covers), and must contain only royalty-free samples.
How much are the entry fees?
The fees are $15 USD per entry for the 2009 edition. The same song can be entered into different categories of the contest but each category entry will require an additional $15 USD entry fee.
How can a band enter?
A representative of the band (member, manager, producer, etc.) can participate in the name of the band. If selected as a winner, a form signed from every co-author/co-composer and attesting that they agree with their respective participation will be requested at the end of the contest.
I'm not of age, can under 18s enter?
Yes, with the authorization of a parent or legal guardian. If selected as a winner, a form signed from a parent or legal guardian attesting to the fact that they agree to your participation will be requested at the end of the contest.
How can I enter?
The contest accepts entries through the Internet and by mail. To enter by mail you must attach to your letter 1 or several entry forms completed, 1 or several audio or data CDs (CD-r) containing the songs along with the entry fees.
Can I enter with several songs?
Yes, the number of songs submitted is unlimited, and the same song can be entered into several categories.
Do I have to include the lyrics to my songs?
Lyrics are necessary only if you enter in the "best lyrics (and music)" category, which can be in any language. They are not requested in the other categories of songs, and songs in these categories will not be judged on their lyrics, which shall make all the various countries of the world equal. |
